Toddler Talk Kickstart FAQ
-
My availability changes from week to week. You’ll be able to see my schedule and find a time that works for you before you sign up and pay.
-
No, the services I provide here at Toddler Talk do not include online speech therapy.
Rather, I offer parents suggestions, ideas, and guidance that they can implement at home with their toddlers starting today. This may include information about how toddler’s develop speech and language skills, language facilitation strategies, and ideas for activities you can do at home. I also help families find a speech therapist in their community.
As the name of the program suggests, I am here to help you Kickstart your speech & language journey but making suggestions about things you can do starting today to support your toddler and get connected with resources in your community.
-
Nope.
This service is designed for parents. We’ll have a conversation about how your child is communicating and the goals that you have for them, but your child won’t be asked to demonstrate their skills or participate in the call.
While it’s sometimes easiest to schedule our call during nap time, I totally understand if you’re watching your child while we talk.
-
Yes, I’ve worked with several families who are already participating in speech therapy. I strive to help families get a better understanding of their child’s diagnosis, learn ways that they can support speech therapy efforts at home, and overcome any obstacles that may be resulting in less progress than they were hoping for.
-
All of the activities and strategies will be catered to your family and your individual goals.
During our call we’ll discuss 3-5 strategies and activities that will be included in your PDF At Home Activity Plan.

My goal is to help you help your child thrive. I will always provide you with assistance in finding speech therapy resources near you, but I understand that wait lists can be long and sometimes it can be nice to have a little extra support. If you’ve worked through all your activities, you’re welcome to schedule a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th call. I recommend taking at least 3-4 weeks between calls to focus on the strategies we discuss each time. During that in between time I am available via email for questions, or you can schedule a 15 minute follow up call for $20.
Here’s what other parent’s are saying…
Madison, Mom of 25 month old
The best thing about working with Toddler Talk is how we learned to use speech around things that got her excited - that’s when it started working. I never thought that Playdough could be a time to use vocabulary. The videos showed us small tricks to play very intuitively. My daughter only used to point, but now she is almost forming sentences. My husband even jokingly said, “Oh gosh, why is she talking to me so much?!”
Brooke M. Ohio, Mom of 18 month old
Everyone says children grow at their own pace. I know that and believe that, but when it’s your own kid, it’s hard. I started to worry at 18 months and couldn't decide if I should have my son evaluated. I would go back and forth between thinking “he’s fine” and “no, we need help” because he actually communicates really well, just not with words.
I didn’t want my son to struggle, but I wasn’t sure exactly what to do. The APP milestones and other milestones lists are so dry and scientific. They weren’t super helpful with the kind of person I am. It’s a wormhole I go down, I honestly don’t think that there’s many other things online that I saw that were as helpful. Honestly it was Stephanie who helped me!
Stephanie slowly broke things down in a way I could understand. She explained the benefits of a speech and language evaluation, and helped me find a provider in my area. She broke communication practice down slowly and helped me try new approaches to attempt to get my son to communicate with sounds and words, not just signs. It was helpful not to start bigger with talking words, but to start with the building blocks of these things instead.
One thing I wasn’t fully aware of is my son had more word approximations than I thought he did. Stephanie taught me to be more patient and discover when my son was trying to say a word so I could shape those attempts into words I could understand.
Stephanie enabled me to look light-heartedly on this thing that’s been weighing on me for months and her support helped my son progress to the next level as we waited for a speech and language evaluation.
Raj, Mom of 30 month old
My daughter was enrolled in speech therapy, but it took us a long time to get there. Between the lockdowns and after a covid scare at the therapists office I realized I was going to have to take things into my own hands.
My at home practice plan very well done and professional. The examples used small changes I can make and gave me so many a-hah moments. I didn’t think you could use bath time to teach, but this is how we started using action words.
Some of those small techniques really started working for my daughter and she rapidly began putting 2 words together. She can now sing twinkle twinkle little star and is even constructing full sentences.
Debbie, Mom of 26 month old
Stephanie gave me a road map so I can understand where we’re going with our at home practice. I wasn’t just going to wait for the speech therapy at the clinic to do it all. How I look at it, they only get 30-60 minutes in speech therapy but my child is with me a majority of the time. In order to help my son I wanted to learn skills and techniques to make my child a better talker myself.
Stephanie really taught me you have to set aside a certain amount of time to just sit with him for 15 or 30 minutes each day and do it consistently. My son was so comfortable with saying one word at a time, and he wouldn’t budge. Stephanie gave me tips to initiate the process to start 2-3 word phrases. Now my son is doing 2-3 word phrases, and I know it’s just a matter of time before he can talk to me in complete sentences.
Stephanie was very professional and stood out compared to the other programs that don’t offer individual support . It made me feel really good, like okay finally we’re getting somewhere. It took us 6-7 months in speech therapy where we didn’t know what to do, and after working with Stephanie he’s saying other two word phrases.
